Solar Powered Cars

Solar powered car in red rocks

In sunny countries, we still rely on petrol guzzlers to take us around town.  However some places have taken initiatives to make solar power work.  This technology has been around for over 10 years and is only now seeing improvements.

At a camp site in Red Rocks, USA, the camp owners have converted a couple of golf cars to run on electricity derived from solar.  The owners said it's good for the whole day, storing solar energy in a bank of four tractor batteries, and can go up to 35mph

In addition the camp site does not rely on any public services. There are photovoltaic solar panels on top of the toilet roofs to provide light all through the night.  Water is pumped from wells again via solar power.
